I craft immersive spaces and realms designed to evoke introspection and spiritual contemplation. Drawing inspiration from the imagery, concepts, and dream-like aesthetics found in Buddhism and Hinduism, I reinterpret these elements within the context of our technologically-driven world to facilitate accessibility and adaptability of spiritual ideas. I make use of extended reality and digital mediums to encourage individuals to engage with my spiritual spaces and become part of captivating narratives rooted in Asian history.
Check out my interview with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's broadcasting program! In this spotlight interview, I will speak about my inspirations, influences, advice for students and other artists, and I dive deep into specific projects I've made. I also talk about presenting sound and new media (VR) work in an art space, and cultural art in a technological space.
"Mahakali" (Spring 2023) is an exploration and experiment of fusing the ideas of a virtual and spiritual space, hailing inspiration from Tantric Buddhist imagery and Hindu iconography. This space aims to evoke feelings of tranquility and anticipation of the unknown and unfamiliar. This project is in development for VR.
"Transcendence" (Since Spring 2022) is a project of iteration, going through multiple phases of mediums, including illustration, sound and physical installation. Inspired from a passage in the Bhagavad Gita, Transcendence explores the idea of eternal cycles.
Manasarovar (2024) is a new, ambitious project in development surrounding the concept of the "Lake of Consciousness" and water as a device of introspection and mind-delving in Buddhism and Hinduism. This project will feature various mediums, including sound, projection mapping, and virtual reality.
